Effective Plymovent extraction at the test stands of Nortek Global HVAC

12 September 2016 Plymovent has recently installed 2 FlexHood systems at the testing areas of Nortek.

Nortek Global HVAC, formerly Reznor Europe, is European market leader in the development and production of high efficiency HVAC units for the industrial and commercial market. It has locations worldwide. Nortek Global HVAC Belgium NV located in Menen called on Plymovent to help implement an efficient extraction system for the fumes generated during testing of these gas-fired air heaters.

Prior to packaging and shipping, each unit is put on the test stand in the testing area. The two testing areas are covered with a FlexHood system, a system of Plymovent extraction hoods. During fabrication of the heat exchanger an oil is used as lubricant in the forming process. The FlexHood system is necessary to extract the smoke that develops as a result of burning off the residual oil.

One of the test areas is divided into 4 compartments. Each compartment has its own roof fan and is separated by strips from the others. The strips allow the workers to quickly move the HVAC units in and out of the test location.

The Plymovent installation keeps the smoke emitted during final testing inside the hood, from which it is extracted. This considerably improves the indoor air quality along the assembly lines and ultimately results in a safer, healthier working environment.
