The Challenge

Modern Event Furniture previously outsourced their welding work to China but decided to bring welding operations in-house at their new Canadian facility to reduce costs and improve control over production. However, welding produces hazardous fumes that need to be properly filtered to ensure a safe working environment. The challenge was to install an effective fume extraction system that was compact enough for their small welding area, without the expense or size of a large industrial system. They needed a solution that would provide clean air ventilation outdoors while fitting their specific operational and space requirements.

The Solution

To effectively tackle the issue of welding fumes in their newly established in-house production area, Modern Event Furniture opted for a specialized ventilation solution tailored to their unique needs. The project involved the installation of two state-of-the-art WallPro Double (160/4H) wall-mounted fume extractors, renowned for their compact design and powerful filtration capabilities. These units were chosen specifically because they offer high-efficiency fume extraction suitable for small-scale welding environments without requiring the space or expense of a large industrial system.

The installation took place in February 2024 at their new facility located at 153 Graveline, St-Laurent, Quebec. The installation was expertly handled by Go 2 Industrial, a trusted partner known for precision and quality in industrial equipment setups. To ensure optimal air quality and compliance with workplace safety standards, the system was customized to vent the filtered clean air directly outdoors, minimizing any risk of indoor contamination.

Despite some initial coordination challenges with the electrical contractors, the project team, including Go 2 Industrial and the client’s project lead, worked diligently to resolve these issues promptly. This ensured that the WallPro units were fully operational and integrated seamlessly into the welding area.
